Dominic Medley

 

Dominic is a journalist, media consultant and traveller.

 

From the beginning of 2002 until the end of 2004 he worked in Afghanistan.

 

 

Dominic worked in Kabul from February 2002 for Internews as Project Director, setting up a journalist training project from scratch. He returned in 2003 to complete The Survival Guide to Kabul which was published by Bradt Travel Guides.

 

 

He then worked with Radio Free Afghanistan as Project Coordinator and journalist trainer. In 2004 Dominic worked as a consultant for Radio Arman 98.1FM in Kabul, the city’s first commercial and independent music radio station. He also helped launch Afghan Scene Magazine, a monthly colour magazine for expats and the Afghanistan Foreign Press Association.

 

Dominic has also worked in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Russia, Albania, Romania and Indonesia on media-development projects including work with the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo on establishing the public broadcasting service. In 2005 he’s worked in Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo and Armenia with the Media Diversity Institute.

 

Dominic is a former BBC journalist who reported for TV and radio in the west of England, making numerous reporting trips to Sierra Leone and Eritrea and to Bosnia and Croatia as a journalist and humanitarian-aid driver during the conflicts.

 

 

Career and Education until the end of 2001

 

The Office of the High Representative

In 2000 and 2001 Dominic worked for the OHR in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the team creating the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Dominic worked across a number of different newsrooms helping train journalists and reorganise working practices as Federation TV and BH Radio 1 were created.
